In the 1910's there were countries alliances. theses countries were building there armies they really didn't like each other, which would lead to war. this was is militarism when a nation is building armies. so when Serbia had assassinated Archduke Francis Ferdinand it basically started the WW1. So when the assassination had happened the allinace and peace between the those countries had ended.
